Choosing a Transplant Center: A Patient's Guide
If you need a bone marrow or cord blood transplant and do not have a matching donor in your family, your doctor can search for an adult donor or cord blood unit for you on the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) Registry.
There are more than 170 NMDP transplant centers in the United States where you may be able to receive a transplant from an unrelated donor or cord blood unit on the NMDP Registry. NMDP compiles detailed information to help you and your doctors choose the transplant center that is best for you — see U.S. NMDP transplant centers.
There are also many international NMDP transplant centers.
Information to help you with your choice
You can learn more about NMDP transplant centers as well as other centers that do transplants using cells from a related donor or cells collected from the patient (autologous transplants) in the BMT InfoNet Transplant Center Directory: http://www.bmtinfonet.org/centers. BMT InfoNet (Blood & Marrow Transplant Information Network) is a nonprofit organization that provides information and emotional support to transplant patients and their families.
