Transplant Education for Patients Older than 50

Decisions. Support. Possibilities.
Transplant as an Option When You are 50 and Older

Decision Support BookletDecisions. Support. Possibilities. is a kit of educational materials containing a DVD and two booklets that give patients in this age group tools they can use to talk to their family and their doctor about treatment choices. It's important for patients to understand all of the options when making a decision about treatment.

In the DVD and workbook, four patients over the age of 50 share stories about their decision to have a marrow or blood cell transplant and the medical, financial, and emotional concerns they had before making their decision.

The second booklet, Exploring Clinical Trials for Patients 50 and Older helps patients know which questions to ask their doctors about clinical trials and discuss how appropriate clinical trials might be for their situation.

Decisions. Support. Possibilities. is published by the National Marrow Donor Program and is free. Request your copy now.
